así es, he dejado temporalmente los pinceles a un lado y me he puesto de nuevo manos a la obra con la escenografía de Kislev. No era el plan que tenía previsto, pero hace un par de semanas saltó una noticia que me hizo cambiar de opinión. Así que al tajo!

I set aside my brushes for a while to focus my attention to the Kislev city. It wasn't my original plan but a pair of weeks ago certain announcement made me change my schedule.
Y cual era esa noticia? Nada menos que el anuncio del Concurso Anual de Pintura de Tabletop World (aquí tenéis las bases, por si os animáis). El concurso se cierra el 15 de abril, así que solo tengo un mes y medio para terminar de montar y pintar todo este tablero. Puede ser una locura o puede ser una motivación la mar de interesante!
So what kind of new was that? Nothing less than the announcement of the Annual Painting Competition from Tabletop World (here you have the rules, if you are interested). The contest closes on April 15, so I only have a month and a half to assemble and paint the whole board. It can be crazy or it can be a trully motivational!
Hacía un año que no tocaba este tablero y tenía muchas ganas de ponerme con él de nuevo. Aunque gran parte del trabajo de modelado que queda ahora no es muy agradable, sí es totalmente necesario. Me refiero a pulir los detalles. Como veréis en las fotos siguientes básicamente me he dedicado a cohesionar todas aquellas partes que había conversionado y que faltaba terminar de unir con masilla, cartón o madera de balsa.
I didn't work on this gameboard for a year and I really wanted to retake it. Although much of the modeling work that remains is not very attractive, it is absolutely necessary. I mean polishing details. As you will see in the following pictures, I've been focused to cohesive all those parts I previously converted and joined with green stuff (epoxy putty, in fact), cardboard or balsa wood.
Pero no todo ha sido aburrido; también me he dedicado a otras tres zonas: la cúpula de la puerta principal, los cadáveres del foso y el puente. Empezando por el más sencillo, quería un puente robusto y con el ancho suficiente para un regimiento de infantería de 5 miniaturas por fila. Además, he utilizado el mismo adoquinado que en interior de la ciudad, cosa que no sólo le otorga solidez sino que proyecta la ciudad fuera de la murallas. Aún no está terminado del todo porque tengo que conseguir un par de materiales para usar de barandilla, pero ya se puede ver su aspecto fundamental.
But not everything is boring. I'm also working on three other areas: the dome over the main door, the corpses of the moat and the bridge. Starting with the simplest one, I wanted a sturdy bridge with enough width for an infantry regiment of 5 miniatures per row. In addition, I have used the same cobblestone as in the interior of the city, which not only gives it a strenght looking but projects the city outside the walls. It's not finished yet because I have to get a couple of materials to use as a handrail, but you can see its fundamental aspect.
Una de las ideas que sí teníamos clara desde el inicio del proyecto (esta vez sí, Guiller Hoyo), era que las unidades del caos podrían pasar dentro de la ciudad gracias al derrumbe de un tramo de muralla y a los cadáveres amontonados de Hombres Bestia que llenarían el foso. Así que conseguí varios gors, ungors y un par de minotauros de segunda mano y los transformé en bajas (da igual si han muerto o no, el tema es que no se muevan mucho cuando los demonios pasen por encima de ellos). Los voy a pintar siguiendo el mismo esquema que los Hombres Bestia de Marc, de forma que se aprecie que proceden del mismo ejército.
One of the ideas we had clear from the beginning of the project (so this is the case, Guiller Hoyo), was that the regiments of chaos could enter the city thanks to the collapse of a wall and to the pile of corpses from Beastmen warriors filling the pit. So I got several gors, ungors and a pair of minotaurs and converted them into casualties (it does not matter if they are died or not, the issue is that they will do their work making a way for the rest of the chaos troops who will pass over them). I'll paint them following the same colour scheme as Marc's Beastmen, proving that all of them come from the same army.
Pero lo que más me ha traído de cabeza es la cúpula de la puerta. Era esencial encontrar algún tipo de cúpula típicamente rusa para darle el toque kislevita a la ciudad, pero no he encontrado nada con esta forma de cebolla, así que finalmente la he modelado con masilla a partir de una bola de poliestireno.
Making the dome over the main the door was hard. It was essential to find some kind of typical Russian dome to give the Kislevite touch to the city, but I have not found anything with this onion shape during the last two years, so I finally decided to model it with epoxy putty over a polystyrene ball.
Como véis, en una semana hemos adelantado bastante y espero ponerme a pintar al final de ésta. Os iremos informando! Por cierto, os debo un artículo de la unidad de caballeros del grifo terminada, pero estoy a la espera de poder hacer fotos decentes, así que en cualquier momento lo publicaré.
As you can see, we've advanced a lot this week and I hope to start painting it during the next weekend. We will inform you! By the way, I owe you a post concerning the finished Knights Griffon, but I'm waiting for the moment to take decent photos, so I'll publish it at any time as soon as posible.

ResponderEliminarLa ciudad tiene una pinta increíble, hay una buena inversión para recrearla. Me encanta la pasarela y sobre todo el muro derruido, el efecto está muy logrado y las bajas tienen una pose genial. al hombre bestia reclinado le pondría una flecha en el hueco de la mano, como intentando sacarla de su estómago.

Sí, tengo ganas de ponerme a pintar esa sección del muro y a los hombres bestia que hay en él. En efecto Manuel, a ese hombre bestia le falta la fecha clavada, pero no estaba seguro de ponersela o no.

Está quedando brutal la verdad. Me gusta mucho el resultado que va cogiendo, y realmente admiro la inmensa cantidad de dinero que habéis invertido en este proyecto y el tiempo y motivación que tenéis. Realmente esto no lo puede hacer todo club o grupo de amigos y es genial que lo compartáis con todos. El muro derruido queda muy bien y una vez lo pintéis seguro que el aspecto de toda la mesa es increíble. Hay ganas de seguir viendo cómo evoluciona todo!
